The New York Times Discovers the Rule of Law

The Times proves once again that it is a mouthpiece for statist propaganda, rather than a tool of journalistic integrity.

The New York Times Discovers the Rule of Law

Leave it to The Gay Lady to be a day late and a few brain cells short. The New York Times recently published an article by some journalism-school retread about the Cliven Bundy situation, a piece containing all the usual talking points about how the “racist” rancher’s reasoning is really risible. Rinse, wash and repeat. What interests me right now are not the facts of the case, however, but one particular line in the Times commentary.

Vladimir Putin Caesar and Our Great Geo-political Turning Point

Written by Selwyn Duke on Monday, 28 April 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

Some commentators wonder if Putin is trying to bring back the Soviet empire. In all likelihood, though, he is looking further back for inspiration, and further ahead for his intentions.

Vladimir Putin Caesar and Our Great Geo-political Turning Point

We are witnessing, I believe, a turning point in geopolitical history, one future historians may analyze as we have the Roman Empire’s fall. Vladimir Putin is making a move — and it’s not just against Ukraine. It may not be just a move against Eastern Europe. It’s not even, perhaps, just a move against US world dominance.

University Wants Fewer Whites — Fears "Mediocrity"

In falling all over themselves to demonstrate their "tolerance," some liberals announce themselves to be both ridiculous and intolerant.

University Wants Fewer Whites — Fears

If you thought the “educator” who saw “racist” intent behind offering someone a peanut-butter sandwich was a loon, consider Western Washington University (WWU) president Bruce Shepard. Always on the lookout for ways to improve his institution’s academic integrity, he recently circulated a school-wide questionnaire and asked, “How do we make sure that in future years ‘we are not as white as we are today?’”

Saving Civilization Means Killing Equality

Written by Selwyn Duke on Friday, 04 April 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

Since equality is wholly unnatural, its mullahs must violate man’s nature, must trump it and twist it, in an effort to pound their sinister square peg into the round hole of reality. And woe betide he who defies their self-deified will.

Saving Civilization Means Killing Equality

If a famine befell us and you couldn’t save everyone, would you withhold the food you had and let every citizen starve rather than endure the inequality of just saving some? If recent history is any guide, certain leftists just might say yes.

Top Ten Things Putin Said to Obama about Ukraine

Was it Vlad Putin who figured he had more flexibility after Obama's reelection?

Top Ten Things Putin Said to Obama about Ukraine

While Barack Obama’s recent telephone conversation with Russian president Vladimir Putin about the Crimean standoff has been widely reported, the exact substance of the discussion has remained a mystery.

The Plan for Police Nullification

Duke: “If your area is electing a sheriff, there must be an explicit litmus test: Will you protect constitutional rights? And will you disobey unconstitutional orders, no matter their origin? Any waffling or hesitation should disqualify the candidate.”

The Plan for Police Nullification

“I [sic] give my left n** to bang down your door and come for your gun,” said the cop. This statement, made by Branford, Ct., police officer Joseph Peterson in a Facebook conversation earlier this month, created quite a blogosphere firestorm. Internet commenters from Sacramento to Saratoga struck a note of defiance and e-shouted the ancient words of Spartan King Leonidas, “Molon labe!” On the other side there’s Ct. governor Dannel Malloy (D), who said to a gun owner at a March 13 town-hall meeting that the anti-Second Amendment set won and “you lost.” But it occurs to me that in-your-face actions can go both ways.

Cop: I’d Love to "Bang Down Your Door and Come for Your Gun"

Police officers sometimes argue that their job is to enforce all laws equally. But should unjust laws be enforced?

Cop: I’d Love to

How would you feel if a police officer you knew for 20 years told you that if an order was issued to confiscate your guns, he wouldn’t hesitate to “kick your door in”? This was precisely the experience Connecticut resident, Navy veteran and former firefighter John Cinque had after commenting on his state’s 2013 violation of the Second Amendment.

Razing Arizona: Conservatives Succeed at Failing Again

Written by Selwyn Duke on Friday, 28 February 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

The progressives have stepped up their totalitarian campaign against freedom of association as evidenced by the veto of SB 1062 by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

Razing Arizona: Conservatives Succeed at Failing Again

Perhaps Arizona governor Jan Brewer was sincere when saying that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (SB 1062) she vetoed yesterday could “create more problems than it purports to solve.” After all, observers such as Napp Nazworth at The Christian Post contend that SB 1062 might actually — contrary to all the hysteria — have made it harder for most business owners to refuse service to homosexuals. This analysis may have merit and can be read here, but it’s irrelevant to a larger point:

Why Obama is Uneducated

Written by Selwyn Duke on Thursday, 27 February 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

Our republic is now infested with millions of fiction voters who elected a fiction president based on fairy-tale promises. And it’s looking less and less like our story ends with “happily ever after.”

Why Obama is Uneducated

A few years ago I participated in a radio debate on “white privilege” with a certain man, whose name is unimportant, who had a Ph.D. in “ethnic studies.” At one point he introduced an argument by saying, “If whites are 80 percent of the population…,” which prompted me to interject and point out that whites (non-Hispanic) are now only 63 percent of America. Of course, you might think that someone with a doctorate in “ethnic studies” would know what the ethnic and racial composition of the country is.

Suing Americans under International Law — in American Courts

Written by Selwyn Duke on Saturday, 22 February 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

Americans can conceivably be punished under legislation that they had not even an indirect hand in creating.

Suing Americans under International Law — in American Courts

Imagine you go overseas and give a speech advocating a cause, only to come home and find you’re being sued for “crimes against humanity.” No, what you did wasn’t illegal under American law or under the laws of the nation in which you expressed your words.

Immigration and National Survival

Written by Selwyn Duke on Friday, 14 February 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

We have a civilization here, now, today, and the question is always the same: is it worth preserving?

Immigration and National Survival

When pondering our obsession with immigration, I’m reminded of how people in the ridiculous dystopian film Idiocracy were watering their crops with an energy drink called Brawndo. And even though the crops weren’t growing, the suggestion to try water instead was met with the following conditioned response in the drink’s defense: “It’s got what plants crave! It’s got electrolytes!” No one knew what electrolytes were. No one could explain why they were in Brawndo. It was all sloganeering.

America Has Lost Her Will to Live

We’ve forgotten that robust, healthy America was a result of a specific recipe, and we cannot perpetuate that republic unless we remember the recipe.

America Has Lost Her Will to Live

Perhaps we should have chosen the turkey as our national bird, as Benjamin Franklin suggested. It would certainly be more appropriate for our times. But if any flying creature would do, a moth might be more fitting still — with political correctness playing the role of that devilishly irresistible flame.

Divided We Stand: A Traditionalist Manifesto

Written by Selwyn Duke on Tuesday, 04 February 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

Today’s conservatives are generally people who have assimilated into yesterday’s liberals’ culture. And every time we compromise — on civil unions, big-government programs or whatever it may be — we assimilate further.

Divided We Stand: A Traditionalist Manifesto

Conservatives are generally very nice people — who never saw a culture war they couldn’t lose. That is to say, we often hear cracks about how Barack Obama and his ilk may “evolve” on issues, but conservatives exhibit that tendency, too, and their evolution goes something like this:

Why Is the Southern Poverty Law Center Trying to Crush a Small Jewish Organization?

Written by Selwyn Duke on Friday, 31 January 2014. Posted in Opinion, Selwyn Duke

A lawsuit filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center seeks to prevent a faith-based organization from helping those who wish to overcome their homosexual impulses.

Why Is the Southern Poverty Law Center Trying to Crush a Small Jewish Organization?

It seems as if certain purported civil-rights activists think homosexuals are like some organized-crime groups: you can join the gang, but the only way you can leave is feet first.

Thus Spake the Potheads

Selwyn Duke: “I’m simply pointing out that the main arguments used to legitimize pot are pap.”

Thus Spake the Potheads

It’s starting to appear as if marijuana users have become the homosexual lobby of the chemically dependent. What do I mean? Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson could mention one sexual behavior (adultery) as disqualifying someone from the “kingdom of God,” but mentioning that “other” sexual behavior? That’s a boycottin’, pardner! Likewise, there’s no shortage of articles about the perils of smoking tobacco — about how it causes lung cancer, emphysema and premature aging; about how it’s a dirty, nasty habit — all without indignant smokers crawling out of the woodwork to protest, between hacking coughs, that their passion is being unfairly demonized. But dare imply that inhaling copious amounts of marijuana smoke may not be one of Dr. Oz’s top ten health recommendations, and, well, the potheads cometh.
